Smile makeover & smile design — Sterling, Virginia

A smile is drawn, not just fixed

A friend of Dr. Tarek’s father once told him dentistry is like art: you’re drawing with your hand. That’s still how he thinks about cosmetic work. A filling repairs a tooth. Smile design is different. It’s the shape of your teeth, how they catch the light, how much you show when you laugh, how the whole thing sits with your face.

We plan all of that on screen first, using digital smile design, before a single tooth is touched. So instead of guessing at the chair, you see the plan before you commit to it.

What smile design actually looks at

A smile makeover isn’t one treatment. It’s a plan built from whatever fits your teeth, your face, and what you want to change. No packages. Just the smallest, smartest set of changes that gets you the result you’re after.

Your teeth themselves

Color, shape, spacing, wear. Some guests need veneers to reshape several teeth at once. Others just need whitening and a little bonding to close a gap or fix a chip. A few need Invisalign first, since straightening the bite can change what the smile needs.

Your gum line & lip line

How much gum shows when you smile naturally, not posed. Where your lip line sits, and how the proportions read against your face rather than on their own.

The whole face, from every angle

How your smile looks from the side, not just straight-on in a mirror. Sometimes the answer is whitening and a little bonding. Sometimes a full upper-arch veneer case. Both are smile design.

FROM LIGHTEST TOUCH TO FULL REDESIGN

Whitening

Shade only. One or two visits.

Bonding

Chips and small gaps, often same-day.

Veneers

Reshape several teeth at once.

Full redesign

Upper arch, planned end to end.

The Smile Reveal

Seeing it before you decide

Before any cosmetic treatment starts, we build a digital preview of your new smile from photos and scans of your own teeth. You sit down, we walk through it together, and you see roughly what the changes would look like on your actual face.

You react to the design, ask what’s driving each recommendation, and push back on anything that doesn’t feel like you. Want to sit with it and come back later? That’s fine. Nothing to sign that first visit.

Veneers take longer than whitening or bonding: a design phase, a prep visit, temporaries, and a fitting.

Why guests trust this process

Neither story is really about teeth

One was a woman too afraid of the dentist to walk through the door. She stood in the hallway holding a magazine until the office manager coaxed her in. Years later, after Invisalign and veneers, she comes in smiling and joking with the team.

The other was a man who hadn’t smiled since he was six. When Dr. Tarek seated his temporary veneers and he saw himself in the mirror, he cried, quietly, without saying a word.

They’re about someone seeing themselves differently. That’s the real goal of smile design: not a promise of a specific result, but getting you as close as possible to a smile you’re not thinking about hiding. Dr. Tarek is Egyptian-trained and Virginia-licensed, FAGD, and an ICOI Fellow. More on the About Dr. Tarek page.
