Two ways to whiten

In-office vs. take-home: how we decide

Not every set of teeth whitens the same way, and not every patient wants the same experience. That’s the honest answer, before we get into products.

01 / SAME DAY

In-office

  • Higher-concentration gel under controlled conditions, adjusted as we watch your teeth respond
  • Most patients see a noticeable difference in one visit
  • A good fit before an event, or if you don’t want to manage a routine at home
02 / YOUR PACE

Take-home

  • Custom trays from an impression of your teeth + professional-strength gel, one to two weeks
  • Gentler and more gradual, and it hands you the control
  • The trays are yours to keep, so you can touch up later without starting from scratch

Sensitivity is the most common question, and the honest answer is it varies. We talk through your history before we start, and can adjust concentration or timing if you’re prone to sensitive teeth.

What to expect

It starts with a quick exam, not a product

Whitening only works on natural enamel, not on crowns, veneers, or bonding, so we check first to make sure everything will end up matching. We won’t promise a shade number before we’ve seen your teeth, but we’ll tell you what we typically see, and you decide the pace and method.

A dental team, not a kiosk

Whitening seems simple, and mostly it is. It’s still a dental treatment, done by a team that knows your mouth, not a mail-order kit guessing at your enamel. And if you’re a Membership Club patient, whitening is one of the services discounted as part of your plan, worth asking about if you don’t have dental insurance.
